Büyük School applies inquiry-based approach in preschool, an early childhood stage that 70% of mental and personal development of children are completed. The program aims holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing through questioning and exploring. When children are able to ask questions and investigate the answers, they feel in charge of their own learning. Inquiry-based approach applied in Büyük School harness this spirit of investigation, creating an interesting, engaging and meaningful curriculum that uses children’s interests and questions as a starting point.
In main courses such as Turkish, children acquire basic language skills to pose right questions. In Cognitive skills lessons they improve logical and math skills through hands-on activities. In Play and drama lessons, they learn to dramatize real-life situations in which they express themselves using their body language and emotions. In Science and Nature lessons, they acquire the basic skills related with real-life contexts and environmental consciousness. Art lessons help them improve their artistic skills. During the program children foster exploration, problem solving, discovery and questioning skills through hands-on activities and play, enjoy collaboration and complete their intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth.
The program applied in Büyük School provides children with the opportunity to discover their own culture, language and environment as well as their social, emotional and cognitive skills.
